“Among the best studied [skeletal muscle fibers] are the subunits of the AChR, which are upregulated by denervation, leading to a phenomenon originally called ‘supersensitivity’.... It is generally presumed that increased density of AChRs in the muscle membrane facilitates formation of new NMJs by regenerating axons”.
